Rydning af granater på Amager

Damasec Behind Discovery of Grenades at Amager Fælled

The Danish Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit detonated six grenades on Amager Fælled yesterday. Damasec’s mine and ordnance clearance team conducted the clearance operation.

Several Danish media outlets reported yesterday that the Danish Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit would detonate six unexploded grenades on Amager Fælled. Due to weather conditions, there was a loud explosion. Additionally, the detonation required a safety zone with a diameter of 700 meters. Damasec’s mine and ordnance clearance team made the discovery of the grenades.

The detonated grenades are believed to be from World War II or from military activities in the area, as the area served as military training grounds from 1943 to 1984.

ENGAGE Kastellet 2021

Damasec Supports ENGAGE Festival 2021

Damasec is proud to once again support ENGAGE Festival 2021, which has returned strongly this year after last year’s shutdown.

At Damasec, we are proud sponsors of ENGAGE 2021. We are delighted to contribute to the Veteran Foundation and ENGAGE, an event focused on bringing people closer together and showing appreciation for all those who have served on behalf of Denmark. We have previously supported the festival in 2019 and are naturally supporting the festival this year in both Copenhagen and Skive, which is back after last year’s closure due to COVID-19.

This year, ENGAGE festival took place in beautiful and sunny surroundings at Kastellet in Copenhagen. Now, we look forward to repeating the success at Skive Barracks in August. Damasec provides total solutions for the festival. We support both personally and as a sponsor because we want to support a good cause.

It’s wonderful to see veterans, families, friends, and others enjoying the music and each other’s company.

Terrortruslen mod Danmark er fortsat alvorlig

Terror Threat Against Denmark Remains Serious

The conclusion drawn by the Center for Terror Analysis in a recently published assessment by the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, PET, is alarming.

The Center for Terror Analysis assesses that there is a ‘recognized threat,’ where there is the capacity, intention, and ability to plan terrorism. Several individuals have been arrested on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack in Denmark or abroad using firearms and homemade bombs.

NEWS: The terror threat against Denmark is serious, according to PET assessment (TV 2, March 31, 2021)

The assessment describes the terrorist threat from militant Islamism, far-right extremism, far-left extremism, and other threats that may have a terrorist character. If a militant Islamist terrorist attack were to occur in Denmark, it is most likely to happen:

• Using readily available means such as firearms or homemade bombs.
• By a small group or an individual.
• Targeting a so-called symbolic target (i.e., individuals, institutions, and events that may be perceived as insulting to Islam).
• Against an unprotected civilian target (a publicly accessible place).

Lagging behind in physical protection

In Denmark, we focus on monitoring emails, phone calls, and other intelligence. However, we are not as quick to resort to physical protection. At Damasec Physical Protection Systems, we have specialists who work to prevent, delay, and/or mitigate terrorist attacks. As a member of the Security Industry’s Anti-Terrorism Committee, we focus on ensuring that legislators and decision-makers in both the public and private sectors gain a better understanding of physical security when it comes to anti-terrorism tools.

The history of past attacks clearly demonstrates examples where physical security may not have been prioritized enough from a security expert’s perspective – read the articles at Damasec Physical Protection Systems:
